9th April 2009

I was pleasantly surprised by the high standard of both the Juniors and the Adult handlers present at this show.  In some classes exhibitors were only seperated by the smallest margin.

Junior Handling 6-11 years (6 entries, 3 absent)

1st – Sophie Brownlee – 11 years old.  Well presented handler who executed her pattern work with faultless accuracy.  Had her eye on the judge at all times and a pleasant smile just finished the perfect picture of an extremely good handler who showed her dog at its best without being obvious.  I was shocked to discover later that she has only been showing for approx. 10 months.  Best Junior Handler in Show.

2nd – Laura Gardner – 9 years old.

3rd – Holly Taberner – 11 years old.

Junior Handling 12-16 years (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st – Georgia Gray – 13 years old.  Very difficult class to seperate as both entries are extremely good handlers.  Very precise pattern work in the class with good distance from the judge for the finish.  Lost out in the Challenge as her corners became more rounded.

2nd – Shanie Gray – 14 years old.

Adult Handling 17-39 years (6 entries, 4 absent)

1st – Ann Prevel – Very good, flowing pattern work with one eye on the judge at all times taking account when I moved position.  Again, lost out in the Challenge for Best Adult Handler as her corners became more rounded.

2nd – Amy Bennett

Adult Handling 40 years & over (9 entries, 5 absent)

1st – Mary Small – Very good pattern work with precise corners and good straight lines.  Best Adult Handler

2nd – Ann Kubilius

3rd – Colin Langan

JUDGE – Mrs Cathy Howard, SHANDLMAIN
