SMOOTH COLLIE OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2023

HELD ON – SATURDAY 15^TH JUNE 2024 – JUDGE MRS. CATHY HOWARD (SHANDLMAIN)

I was honoured to be asked to judge the Puppy and Veteran Competition. Qualifying Puppies and Veterans during 2023 had to win Best Puppy Dog or Bitch at a Championship Show and likewise for the Veteran’s, either Best Veteran Dog or Best Veteran Bitch at a Championship Show.

SMOOTH COLLIE PUPPY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION (7 entered/6 present)

*Blamorder Makers Mark JW (Bitch)* – *20 months*

*Coldelee Eternal Sunshine JW (Bitch)* – *2 years and 2 months*

*Coldelee Jupiter Rises with Blamorder JW (Dog)* – *2 years and 2 months*

*Lizoni the Drifter (Dog)* – *18 months*

Smooth Collie Puppy of the Year 2023 – Miss J Sewell’s WYNELE STRIKE IT RICH TO LEWARNE JW – Jet black dog of 20 months who oozes quality without exaggeration, masculine well moulded head with excellent lip line and underjaw, kind dark eye, well positioned ear carriage, good length of neck leading to well-paced shoulders, good return and length to upper arm, decent depth to chest, good topline with nicely rounded croup, tail reaching hock joint, well presented and moved with reach and drive showing his lovely construction and that he could easily go all day, fit for function and was pleased to award him Smooth Collie Puppy of the Year.

Reserve Smooth Collie Puppy of the Year 2023 – Mr & Mrs Holmes & Miss Lusty’s BLAMORDER MAKERS MARK JW – Sable/White Bitch again of 20 months, a nicely made bitch with a pleasant head and expression, good underjaw and firm lip line, ears set well, good level topline, good chest but I would prefer slightly more length to upper arm, good bend of stifle and length of tail, moved well.

Smooth Collie Veteran of the Year 2023 – Miss A Lusty’s Ch. Blamorder Ice Cream Dream, a very pretty and well marked blue merle bitch although I would prefer the colour to be slightly clearer blue, she will be 8 years of age next month, good underjaw with a good tight lipline, well moulded foreface with good head planes, decent placed ears, good length to neck, decent chest, good length of back and solid topline with slight rise over the loin leading to a decent length of tail, front angulation is excellent, good underline, decent bend of stifle, moved well holding her topline and tail correctly.Reserve Smooth Collie of the Year 2023 – Mr & Mrs Denton’s Ch. Kevranna Theras Enate Echo, Sable/White Bitch of 12 and half years of age, still very attractive bitch with a really pleasing moulded foreface, excellent lipline and underjaw, well placed and tipped ears, good length of neck, excellent forechest and front angulation, decent length of back just starting to slightly lose her topline but giving away 4-5 years at least to most of her competition I will give her that. Lovely rear angulation to match the front, well bent stifle, good length of tail, still moving with reach and drive and single tracking at her age, she could not be denied reserve placing.
